“AI will revolutionise your CRM and solve all your sales problems!”
Sound familiar? The hype is everywhere, but the reality is more nuanced.
Here are the biggest myths I hear every week – and the truth behind them.
Myth 1: AI will automate your entire sales process
Reality: High-touch B2B sales still rely on human relationships. You can’t automate trust-building, complex negotiations, or reading the room during crucial presentations. AI supports the process, and future capabilities may expand, but it will never replace human judgment.
Myth 2: AI works perfectly straight out of the box
Reality: AI is only as good as your data. Messy, incomplete, or inconsistent CRM data will limit results – rubbish in, rubbish out. Successful AI requires clean, structured data to deliver value.
Myth 3: AI will replace your sales team
Reality: Complete nonsense! Good AI makes good salespeople even better. It can analyse data, identify patterns, and suggest next actions, but closing deals, building relationships, and strategic thinking remain firmly in human territory.
Myth 4: AI implementation is quick and easy
Reality: Implementation takes strategy, training, change management, and ongoing optimisation. Most successful AI rollouts take months, not weeks, and require careful planning to work effectively.
The truth about AI in CRM is that it’s powerful when implemented thoughtfully, with realistic expectations and proper support.
It won’t replace the human side of sales, but it can enhance performance, save time, and highlight opportunities that might otherwise be missed.
By understanding what AI can and can’t do, teams can leverage technology to work smarter, not harder and focus on the activities that drive real impact.
